Positive psychology practices can be done autonomously if learnt correctly and with the right support/guidance. This being a newer field of psychology, it's usual that there are questions and/or blocks to using these methods. Thankfully, with experienced teachers at hand, Evolution Wellness is able to assist you!

It sounds weird/hippy/nonsense/*Chosen words here*
I don't know where to start
I don't have time
I've tried to do it but I'm not sure I'm doing it right?
I don't have anywhere to do it
I struggle to motivate myself

What is Positive psychology?
Positive psychology is a term that covers a broad range of techniques that focus on the positive events, traits, attitudes, experiences, and aspects of life. It teaches how to cultivate the ability to access that mind set and resilience. Methods include; meditation, mindfulness, coaching, gratitude practice, compassion, self-esteem work, confidence building, cognitive behavioral therapy, exploration of/building on meaning & values, developing emotional intelligence, journaling/writing therapies, optimism & growth mindset training, learning the science of happiness, resilience & coping, exploration of/building on strength & virtues, and communication/relationship fostering techniques.
It is not about being happy and positive all the time. Experiencing other emotions is normal, natural and what makes us human. It's about equipping yourself to be better able to deal with challenges that come your way, to feel happier overall and to recogise on what give you meaning and purpose in life.
Different methods and philosophies will impact and suit individuals differently so to address this, there is a broad range of practices taught which students can then follow in more depth should they find a style that particularly appeals to them.
It doesn't sound very legitimate? What is the proof of these methods?
It seems like it's really new but positive psychology started in around the 1950s. As you can imagine, since then, there has been a lot of scientific study into the various practices and how they impact on our lives. If you want to learn more, you can research scholarly studies and published research papers on topics and methods that interest you. If you're not that interested but want to know some more about the benefits, you can click the benefits page for more information.
I don't have anywhere to practice/lack motivation
Come and do it with Evolution Wellness! There is nothing quite like being around others who are sharing the same experiences with us, or who are a little ahead on their own path to be inspired by. Community itself is something that will naturally come with regular classes, that in itself is a part of building on positive psychology teachings!
I am already receiving health care/therapy. Can I still do this?
Yes, it's very compatible and holistic so often compliments other treatments very nicely. Those that are receiving treatment for severe mental health issues/flair ups may need to check with their health care provider beforehand though.
I don't have any health issues and I'm pretty happy. Is there any benefit to me doing this?
Absolutely! The great thing about positive psychology is it's about optimising, who wouldn't want more happiness, more creativity, more clarity? You are just in the very fortunate position to be starting ahead of many others in life, who will be working hard to get themselves to a reasonable level of happiness, optimism rather than pessimism and a place of good self-esteem and self worth.
Do I need to bring anything with me to classes/courses?
Everything you'll need will be provided for you unless stated otherwise but if you would like to bring your own equipment, you're most welcome to.
How long will it take before I start to see any changes/benefits?
It will depend on how much you like the methods you've chosen to work with and how much practice you put into it. You may find comfort or relaxation from your chosen practice immediately, and if consistent, you might start experiencing the neurological changes in a couple of months. (All our brains are wired very uniquely so be patient with yourself when learning)
I don't feel comfortable meditating with others, can I do it in a 121?
Yes of course. Private sessions are on offer on all services so please get in contact to discuss your needs.
I have another question and although there is lots of information on your website, I can't seem to find the answer to my question. Can I contact you for assistance?
Absolutely! Just get in contact via one of the methods on the contact page.
